If you want to build an incredible company, it is the leadership where you need to focus first.



You need to become the right leader first, if you aim to win in the corporate world and achieve business goals successfully. Take an example of Lionel Messi, one of the top football players in the world, having millions of fans. Now think how well they would do if they are on their own and without the team. They may be the best, but they cannot win as a lone player. It is the same for businesses.

So to build an incredible company, you need to become a great leader so that you can build trust, collaborate and hold the team together to extract the best out of them. Here are a few tips on how you can create a positive culture within your organisation through effective leadership:


Listen and be open

As a leader, it is very important to build trust and understand your employees. It is only then you will be able to align business objectives with their personal goals.


You need to listen to your employees.


I have seen many managers trying to impose power over employees, not letting them speak or participate in discussion, and requiring them to report on smallest things. All you are doing is demotivating them.

What happens then is that employees feel they aren’t trusted, they aren’t heard, and they are not an integral part of the organization. You need to open up. A secret tip is beginning your day by getting involved with the employees and not sipping your morning coffee alone behind closed doors. Build mutual respect with your employees by listening to them and understanding them. Ask them casually how they are progressing towards the given goals, what struggles they are currently facing, provide some possible guidance during this brief morning conversation.


Be a mentor

As a leader, you must have mentoring qualities. It is worth spending and participating in mentoring workshops if you want to lead your team successfully. As a mentor, you can develop your team to their full potential, increase their trust and loyalty by establishing a supportive, positive relationship.


Swallow your pride and be humble

Being prideful is a big no no when it comes to leadership and team building. Nobody wants to work for someone with ego and pride. To build a good team, you need to be humble. I have seen people not accepting their mistakes because they are at the top position. Some managers do not even appreciate employees and give credit because of their pride. Such beliefs and practices will usually break good teams and result in chaos within the organization. To become an effective leader, you need to take pride in your team and not yourself, help them learn from mistakes and give credit for their efforts and success.


Be influential and not authoritative

As a leader, you can elevate your role by influencing employees positively. Establish an authentic connection with your employees, be accessible and approachable, tell powerful stories, be grateful and champion others. This is how you can increase your influence on others.


If you establish an authentic connection with your employees, ensure that they are heard, be humble to them and act as their mentor, you can build an incredible company and achieve so much more together.
