In 2015, he challenged himself to read one book every week for the entire year and also created a fan page called "A Year of Books" to post about the books he read.

Oprah Winfrey has been quoted saying,

"Books allowed me to see a world beyond the front porch of my grandmother's shotgun house and gave me the power to see possibilities beyond what was allowed at the time." - Oprah Winfrey
